Myths about Aussie weather
Sunnies, bikinis, flip-flops all year long? Hardly!
Australia admittedly has one of the best weathers around the world but its not always a perfectly sunny day to go to the beach!
Explaining weather in Australia
First things first: because Australia lies in the southern hemisphere of the planet, its "winter" is actually hot and its "summer" is cold, in other words July and August are freezing while December and January are very warm (which makes it a very funny experience to attend a warm Christmas !!). So if you're landing in July or June make sure you bring your heavy winter coat.
Climate in Australia
It rarely snows in Australia (except over the Blue Mountains, Alice Springs and Tasmania which is the closest Australian territory to the South Pole.
But the climate changes a lot… in fact they say that you can see all four seasons in one day in Australia (they actually have autumn here, back in Egypt we only had summer and winter and if we're lucky there's spring)
Trust the Aussie weatherman
Another important piece of advice: "TRUST THE WEATHERMAN!" some days I'd wake up in the morning, look out my window, see the light blue sky, not a cloud in sight, hear the birds singing, I turn on the TV or radio and the weatherman warns that it'll be a rainy day, I think he has to be mistaken, go to work only to find that it's pouring rain and I'm almost the ONLY person who does not have an umbrella! So seriously, don't rely on your instincts when it comes to the weather in Australia.
