Protecting Australia's borders

Australia is the biggest island in the world and the smallest continent, millions of kilometers form its borders and its not easy to guard them all, that is why the Australian Navy and the Australian coast guard take the duty of protecting Australia.

Australian customs and quarantine

Australia is very strict with quarantine issues, I would strongly suggest you declare anything to the authorities before you land, other than the obvious, drugs and firearms etc you should also declare any "biological" items, that includes any wooden objects, food and such, the reason behind this is because Australia has a very delicate ecological balance (almost 75% of Australian animals, insects and plants cannot be found elsewhere on the planet) and even something as small as an insect can upset this balance.
