Bus system in Australia

The bus system in australia is fairly easy for newcomers, first of all there isn't just one governemnt company that services the entire country, there are many, the government service usually is found in the inner city suburbs (called the CBD short for Central Business District)

Bus rules:

A few rules of buses:

- They don't stop just because there's a bus stop, they stop only if a passenger needs to get off or someone flags them down, this way they arrive a bit faster to their destination.

- Not all buses accept cash, now there are "cashless" buses in most cities that require you to havepreviously bought a ticket (could be daily, weekly, monthly or more).

- Passengers stop buses by pressing buttons on the poles inside the bus, when this happens a light goes on indicating that the bus will stop at the next station

- It is customary to thank the driver when alighting from the bus.

- Tickets are usually magnetic and when boarding buses, passengers swipe them on a small device next to the driver

- If you are studying in Australia, you can obtain a card from your university/school that allows you to buy tickets at a much cheaper rate, however you must always keep your card with you at all times as proof.
