Status of Australian children
Australian children are considered some of the happiest children in the world. They get a great chance of education and usually start work as soon as they turn 16 years old. They also have excellent living conditions and medical care.
Role of Australian government in taking care of children
The Australian government takes extreme care of the children and their families.
For each child born in Australia the government pays the family about $3000 to look after and cover the child's needs. The government also helps the children until they are able to get a job.
Children get a family assistance fortnightly payment which goes into their parent's bank account until they 16 years old. There is also another payment called the "New start allowance" which is for children over 16 years old. So children get support from the government until they able to find a job.
Childcare centres
There are also plenty of child care centres for working parents to look after their children and help them to further develop their skills and reach their goals.
Childcare centres accept children from 6 weeks old up to 5 years old which is the school age in Australia.
DOCS
DOCS is the Department of Community Services and it looks after the children who are in need and protects them from abuse. It also looks after orphans and finds foster families for them so they grow in a healthy Australian family atmosphere.
