Cricket is a very popular sport in Australia and its loved by many Australians, its played by children, teenagers and adults in backyards, clubs and professional clubs. Cricket has a long history in Australia, and is played on local, national and international levels.
It is widely considered Australia's national summer sport and unlike the other football sports. Cricket as a sport enjoys a regular support from people in all parts of Australia. The Australia national cricket team was one of participants in the first Test match, and is today regarded as the leading international team in world.
History of cricket in Australia
The first Australian cricket team which played overseas was the 1868 Aboriginal cricket tour of England. The current Australian cricket team is widely regarded as the strongest cricket team in the world. As of March 2007 the Australian team has won 320 of its 687 Test matches. Aussie cricket team is also the first-ranked international one-day cricket team and winners of the last three Cricket World Cups. Australian won the Cricket World Cup 4 times in total; 1987, 1999, 2003 & 2007.
