Passport Expiring in 1.5 Years 2 Months, 1 Week ago
Hi,

My husband and I have applied for 175 visa online and currently all our CO has being assigned and most documents are marked to 'MET' status.
The medical reports are in received status. The police clearance report is in the requested status and would be sent within the next couple of weeks.

The questions are:

1. Our passports are due to expire in 1.5 years time (2010/Feb). Since the visa was applied and granted using the current passport, how will it impact our visa when our passport expires while we are in Australia?
2. If we come back home prior to the passport expiry and then get new passports, how will it effect our reentry to Australia?
3. Should we include our new born baby in my passport, or should we consider getting a separate passport for the baby? What is the maximum age allowed for the baby to travel using mothers passport?
4. Can the baby get a Australian passport?

I think you can request for a passport in you own embassy or consulate once you enter Australia and as far as I know you can only have an Australian passport once you become a citizen unless your baby will be born in Australia then that would make your a baby a naturalized born citizen, otherwise you will have to get your baby a passport.

My answers to your concerns as follows:
1)Their will be no impact. You can renew your passport from your Embassy in US.
2)If you come back to your country, you can renew your passport holding the old one for your entry agin.
3)It is better to get new passport for your new born.
