Public libraries in Australia

Public Libraries can be found in every suburb in Australia, they are massive buildings with huge numbers of books .. but its not just books they have as you might think :) and no i don't just mean newspapers and magazines, they also have DVD's, CD's and Free internet access (limited to one hour per session though and you're not allowed to chat either)

Library Activities

Usually libraries give away gifts to little kids when they come, they also have competitions and activities and libraries compete against each other in national fairs.

To be a member is free, all you need to do is just prove that you live in the area, utility (electricity, gas etc) bills that show your address clearly are accepted as sufficient proof.

The entire process is completely automated but you can ask for help from a staff member if you are stuck, in fact on several occasions  I couldn't find a book i was looking for and the cheerful staff either found it for me or placed an order for it, once it was in they sent me a letter informing me that they have my book and I may come and pick it up anytime.
